Brunilda Vera


Born in NY, raised in Puerto Rico, studied my first years at the public school system. Studied at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus where I completed both my B. S. and Ph. D. in Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, respectively. Studied marine natural products with therapeutic utility for my dissertation and established the structure of more than 20 natural products and semisynthetic derivatives with biological activity. Worked as general chemistry and organic chemistry instructor at universities in PR. Post-doctoral fellow at Florida Atlantic University, Harbor Branch Campus where I studied the potential molecular targets of several compounds with potent antimitotic activity. Also worked on the discovery of new marine natural products with therapeutic utility. Worked as an adjunct chemistry instructor at Eastern Florida State College, Melbourne Campus. Moved to Palm Beach county where I teach High School Chemistry for the school district.
