AICE Literature tutors will instruct students to form an analysis of a text through a social lens. Learners will explore different genres of literature (poetry, satire, drama, fiction, etc.) and propose their interpretations as an argument, based on their cultural understanding of the given author’s rhetorical choices within a specific text. This often involves tutor and student exploring the historical and social ties to a literary work alongside the language and style choice of the author. In addition to helping students prepare for the AICE Literature exam, instructors will guide students toward the ability to understand the world in which a text was written, in addition to the argument that text may be making. Students, in turn, will gain a better sense of critical thought and understanding when it comes to their own scholarly studies.
