I believe that every student is a unique individual with their own story and an important voice. My goal as an educator is to facilitate that voice through a variety of student-centered approaches and to nurture each individual to help them achieve their goals and to give them the confidence to succeed.
Hello. This is my story.
I’m Gwen D’Amico and I’m a third-generation educator. I fell in love with teaching and history when, starting at an early age, I would sit in the history classes my father taught at our local community college. I fell in love with music when, at the age of 6, I was taken to my first live performance. I’ve spent the rest of my life combining all three. I started my career as a classically trained singer performing at venues like Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. But something was missing. So, I decided to go back to graduate school where I was fortunate to be able to combine my love of history with my love of music. My teaching experience started in New York City where I was an Assistant Professor at both Baruch and Brooklyn Colleges and taught a variety of music history classes as well as voice and piano for both college students and high school / middle school students. After I relocated to Palm Beach County in 2018, I eagerly took a position at Boca Raton Community Middle School as a Gifted and Advanced Social Studies teacher. There I found my true passion as an educator. I consider myself lucky to be able to help my students expand their knowledge and understanding of their world.
I believe that every student is a unique individual with their own story and an important voice. My goal as an educator is to facilitate that voice through a variety of student-centered approaches and to nurture each individual to help them achieve their goals and to give them the confidence to succeed.
