Hello. This is my story.
I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. From a young age, I would carry around a mini chalkboard and try to teach my younger brother how to read and write. All these years later, I have lived out my dream! I graduated from Niagara University with a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Childhood and Adolescent English Education. I also earned a Master of Arts in Teaching of English from Teachers College at Columbia University. I have over 10 years of teaching experience with both middle and high school students. Two years ago, I made the decision to move across the country from New York to Palm Beach to be closer to my family. I am currently a middle school ELA teacher in Palm Beach County.
More than half of my teaching career has been in visual and performing arts schools and I firmly believe in the philosophy of teaching to the whole child. Integrating arts into an academic classroom allows students to make personal connections to the content, which in turn helps them remember better and stimulate higher-order thinking. I have a passion for helping students reach their highest potential and I hold each student to the highest of standards. I believe that building relationships and creating bonds with my students allows them to trust me with helping to shape their minds and pushes them to take academic risks.
