Hello. This is my story.
I believe every student learns and grows in their own way and learning is not one size, fits all. I believe that learning is a journey of growth and that with effort, time, and help every student is successful. I also feel that students really don’t “hate” reading, it is just that they haven’t been able to find something to read that they enjoy. I love helping a student strengthen their reading skills and find the pleasure and joy of reading.
I am currently a third grade Language Arts teacher in Palm Beach County. I have been teaching in PBC for twenty years and have been teaching at my current school for the past 17 years. I have taught Inclusion and Gifted Classes at all levels. I have taught elementary, middle, and high school. I attended FAU and earned a BA in English and a Masters Degree in Education. I am certified K-12 and am also certified in Secondary English, 6-12. I love being able to work with students and watch them grow as the year progresses. I am not only a teacher in PBC, but a product of PBC schools attending elementary school, middle school, and high school locally.
I feel that when students are given the skills of organization, strategies for reading different types of texts, practice, and positive reinforcement they will grow and become stronger students.
