Hello. This is my story.
I have worked in the education field for the past ten years, mostly in early childhood education. I graduated from ASU in 2013 with a Master’s Degree in Special Education Instruction and from Florida State University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. For the first seven years of my career I taught Pre-Kindergarten for the Seminole Tribe of Florida on the Big Cypress Reservation. I taught Native children in all core subjects, motor skills, language development, social skills and technology. I also instructed students in Seminole language and culture. For the next three years of my career I moved to Palm Beach County and taught first grade. I worked at a Title I mostly ELL elementary school. I worked with students from all over the world who spoke many different languages.
My teaching philosophy is that every child is capable of learning and we must follow the direction of the child to aid them in discovery and knowledge. I believe all children learn in different ways and that hands on, small group instruction is the best way to help a child reach their potential. I believe children have a natural sense of wonder and joy and that as educators we are to simply create an environment for children to grow and flourish in. I strive to create relationships with each child I work with as I believe this is one of the key fundamentals in teaching.
