Math is all around us and used in everyday life. My philosophy is to show students the fun side of mathematics and get them motivated to learn and love this subject.
Hello. This is my story.
I am Papiya Bhattacharjee. I am originally from West Bengal, India. I speak three languages, Bengali, Hindi, and English. I have always enjoyed doing mathematics, since I learned Algebra in school. I have completed my BS and MS in India from the University of Calcutta. I came to the USA in 2005 and earned my PhD in Ordered Algebra from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. I fell in love with the country and decided to stay and teach mathematics.
I have been teaching undergraduate mathematics courses for over 13 years. My students really enjoy my teaching style, my caring nature, and my ability to explain concepts in a very understandable manner. My goal has always been, and always will be, the success of my students.
Apart from teaching/tutoring mathematics I also love traveling, camping, and gardening. Moreover, I spend my spare time at home doing scrap books and building the Creator series Lego buildings.
Math is all around us and used in everyday life. My philosophy is to show students the fun side of mathematics and get them motivated to learn and love this subject. I use different techniques to solve a problem and explain in manners that will be easily understandable by students. My students have often described their experiences as “the most caring math teacher I have met” and “the best math class I have ever taken.”
